Introduction to Ayodhya Deepotsav
Ayodhya Deepotsav is a grand festival of lights celebrated annually in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, India. This vibrant festival commemorates Lord Rama’s return to his kingdom after 14 years of exile, symbolising the victory of good over evil. Lakhs of diyas (earthen lamps) are illuminated on the banks of the sacred Sarayu River, transforming the city into a breathtaking spectacle of light.
Deepotsav 2024 in Ayodhya?
Deepotsav 2024 marks the eighth edition of this grand festival, held on the eve of Diwali. It is a celebration of Lord Rama’s return to Ayodhya, filled with cultural events, religious rituals, and the illumination of millions of diyas. This year’s Deepotsav holds special significance as it is the first one after the inauguration of the magnificent Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
When is Deepotsav 2024?
Deepotsav 2024 will be celebrated on Tuesday, 30th October. This will be the eighth annual Deepotsav celebration held in Ayodhya. It is the first Deepotsav to be held since the inauguration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Deepotsav is celebrated annually on the eve of Diwali.
When will Deepotsav start in Ayodhya?
The preparations for Deepotsav 2024 are already underway. Ram Manohar Lohia University Volunteers will start placing diyas along the ghats of the Saryu River from 25th October.
Why is Deepotsav setting new records in Ayodhya?
Deepotsav is dedicated to breaking its records each year by illuminating an increasing number of diyas. This year, the target is 25 lakh diyas, significantly higher than the 22 lakhs lit in 20223. The festival continuously aims to surpass previous years’ achievements, showcasing the dedication and growing scale of this celebration.
Ayodhya Deepotsav 2024: Record-Breaking Diya Illumination
Ayodhya aims to illuminate a record-breaking 25 lakh diyas at the 8th Deepotsav. 28 lakh diyas will be placed along the banks of the Saryu River to achieve this target. Additionally, 6 lakh diyas will be lit at the designated Bhajan Sandhya venue.
Ayodhya Deepotsav Pass 2024
The Pass which is made for participating in Deepotsav is made for the students and Volunteers of Ram Manohar Lohia University and many other social organizations also participate in it and their passes are made a month in advance. If you want to participate in Ayodhya Deepotsav, then you can come to Ayodhya and you can participate in Deepotsav after 8:00 pm. After the world record is made, the gate opens for common people also. This time Deepotsav is going to last for 2 days, meaning you will not need any pass.
Ayodhya Lamps, Ayodhya Lighting, Diyas in Ayodhya
Diyas are the heart of Deepotsav. Lakhs of these earthen lamps are lit across Ayodhya, bathing the city in a warm glow and creating a mesmerising spectacle. The sheer scale of the lighting transforms the city into a radiant display of devotion and celebration.
Online Deepdaan and Prasad Ayodhya Deepotsav
For those unable to attend the event in person, the Ayodhya Development Authority offers the “Ek Diya Prabhu Shri Ram Ke Naam” programme. This initiative allows devotees to donate online and have a diya lit on their behalf during Deepotsav. Prasad from the event will then be delivered to their homes.
